WHY IT WORKS
This professional treatment mask is designed to improve:
- redness and inflammation associated with sensitive skin, roseacea, acne and stressed skin
- skin softness and firmness and help with fine lines
- even skin tone and counter age-spot formation.
- skin protection and repair functions of damaged skin.
How does it do this?
Soothes, calms and softens: The powerful anti-inflammatories contained in colloidal oats and immortelle flower extract help soothe and calm your skin and reduce redness. Our ECOCERT patented extrusion colloidal oats are amazingly healing, containing soothing lipids and anti-itch avenanthramides together with repairing beta glucan and peptides. Numerous studies have shown it can speed up healing of shallow abrasions and partial thickness burns. Colloidal oats are also a natural prebiotic, which can help strengthen your skin’s friendly organisms and protect from hostile bacteria and fungi which can cause irritation, redness, itching, spots and scaling. Finally vitamin B3 is effective at helping reduce redness.
Strengthens your skin barrier function to prevent further skin irritation: Vitamin B3, also known as niacinamide, has been proven in studies to dramatically boost production of ceramides and fatty acids, two key components of your skin's outer protective barrier. A 2004 study showed that 2% niacinamide reduced skin water loss by 24% in 4 weeks and boosted fatty acids and ceramides by 67% and 34% respectively. Bath Spa Skincare’s Soothing Mask contains 10% vitamin B3.
Assists healing, repair and scar prevention: Oat beta glucan’s capability for speeding the healing of shallow abrasions and partial thickness burns is well researched and documented. It appears that it can enhance wound healing through several mechanisms including the stimulation of collagen deposition and activation of immune cells. Also green tea extract contains epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) which recent research at the University of Georgia suggests is highly beneficial in helping accelerate wound-healing and prevent scarring.
Boosts collagen and elasticity: Both vitamin B3 and oat beta glucan are easily absorbed into our skin and are proven collagen boosters. Vitamin B3 was shown in a human fibroblast study to stimulate new fibroblasts (our skin’s own collagen and elastin builders) by 20% and by collagen secretion by 54%. Oat Beta-Glucan has also been shown1 to effectively penetrate into our skin and diminish wrinkles and roughness (by 10-15% with 0.1% beta-glucan applied twice daily for eight weeks) and increase skin firmness. Also, grape seed extract and green tea extract not only help protect skin from accumulating damage they have also been recently shown2 to enhance synthesis of healthy collagen, elastin and improve other structural components of skin as well as prolonging and reactivating skin cells in the epidermis - a ‘fountain of youth’ for skin cells. This can then lead to better skin repair and healing and may help conditions such as wrinkling and roseacea as well as helping prevent scars.
Evens skin-tone and helps prevent age spot formation or enlargement: A clinical trial using human volunteers applying a 5% concentration of vitamin B3 for eight weeks showed that age spots around the eye and cheek were significantly reduced. It does this by inhibiting the transfer of pigment to skin cells, minimizing dark spots, so make sure you are using good sun protection too!
Helps repair and protect skin from stress, daylight, metabolism, pollution and smoke: Bath Spa Skincare’s synergistic antioxidant and anti-inflammatory blend of green tea, grape seed and immortelle extracts can help protect the skin from the damaging ageing affects of inflammation and oxidation caused from stress, daylight, metabolism, pollution and smoke. Grape seed extract is one of the best antioxidants for your skin, and contains proanthocyanidins, polyphenols, flavonoids, and anthocyanins to help reduce the sun’s damaging effects and reduce free-radical damage. Green tea extract contains high levels of the antioxidants epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), total catechins and polyphenols.

HOW TO USE
For best results: use as frequently as desired and at least once a week. Cleanse face first then use a teaspoon of mask powder and add Balancing Toner for a perfect skin-loving pH 5.3 (or alternatively use two teaspoons of water). Mix until it is a spreadable paste consistency and apply to face, eye area, neck and backs of hands using either finger tips, a spatula or mask brush. Leave for up to 10 minutes, then rinse off with warm water. Apply toner/serum/moisturiser immediately afterwards.
Sally’s tip: “To be quick I apply my mask as I’m getting ready to get in the shower, and rinse it all off at the end of my shower. I find I use it regularly when I have every thing I need kept ready in the bathroom - the mask, my toner, teaspoon and spatula. It really does improve the look of my skin.”
Works well with: Balancing Toner
Storage: Replace lid immediately after use. Store away from direct daylight - never store any natural skincare products on the window sill as it can seriously diminish nutritional content. Keep out of reach of children.
