* We make vegan skin care apart from two vegetarian skin care products, the Intensive Cream and the Lip Protector which contain cruelty free beeswax which is either sourced locally or fair trade from Africa.

Our Nature:

Our 100% natural skin care products are safe, pure and beneficial.

For our rejuvenating range we have selected nature’s most beneficial botanical extracts to help protect and repair your skin so it looks its healthy best:

  • Herbe d’aiguille has an excellent retinoid (vitamin A) anti-ageing affect on the skin without any of the associated irritation of synthetic retinoids.
  • Immortelle flower extract which is anti-inflammatory and reduces the effects of the stress hormone cortisol on the skin.
  • Super-antioxidants from rosemary, green coffee, green tea and grape seed to slow the rate at which we age.

A full list of our natural skin care ingredients, together with an explanation of their benefits and credentials, is provided for each product in the 'Buy Products' menu.

Our Science:

Bath Spa Skincare’s Rejuvenating Moisturiser was shown to have five times more effective antioxidant activity in the skin than the UK’s best-selling anti-ageing moisturiser to help slow the rate of skin ageing. Testing at Knight Scientific laboratories on human volunteers.

With no moisturiser:  volunteers’ skin varied showing pro-oxidant (i.e. bad) to mildly anti-oxidant (i.e. good) activity in skin.

With Bath Spa Skincare’s Rejuvenating Moisturiser: pro-oxidant activity became anti-oxidant down to 40 layers tested.

With Rejuvenating Moisturiser mixed with Triple Boost Powder Serum:  anti-oxidant activity trebled compared to moisturiser only.

Based on scientific research at the UK’s leading antioxidant laboratory, Knight Scientific, and at the University of West England’s Centre for Alternative Testing (i.e. cruelty-free).  Bath Spa Skincare products use vitamin, mineral and antioxidant therapy, together with botanical extracts, to address the five main causes of skin ageing free radicals, inflammation, glycation, inherent decline of the skin matrix and poor skincare ingredients.Bath Spa Skincare was awarded European SME grant funding to test its Rejuvenating products at the UK’s leading antioxidant laboratory Knight Scientific.  A new test has been developed, which is highly sensitive and accurate, to measure the antioxidant activity in skin cells. Human volunteers, including Bath Spa Skincare founder Sally Merrett, underwent skin stripping tests down to 30 - 40 layers on forehead and arms to ensure the products penetrate effectively into the skin and that the bio-actives are effective.  The results were very exciting.

Our Refilling Service:

Would you like to use our local skincare refilling service?  Our Rejuvenating Moisturiser containers can be refilled for a year after first use.  Simply return your empty container to Bath Spa Skincare, with your name and contact details on it, to any of our collection points in Bath and we will refill it within two months.  You will need two moisturisers to ensure you always have a moisturiser whilst you wait for your other to be refilled.  Please pay for your refill when you return your empty container and once refilled we will post it back to you for free.

Please email us at info@BathSpaSkincare.com, or speak to us on 01225 447670, regarding collection point and payment.

Collection points in Bath are at:

2 Westhall Road, Bath, BA1 3BQ
We hope to expand the collection points soon.

You are welcome to post your empty bottle to us but, until further research is conducted, we are unsure if the energy costs of posting outweigh the energy and resource implications of not re-using it. (Address: 2 Westhall Road, Bath, BA1 3BQ).

We offer this refilling service because the Rejuvenating Moisturisers need to be in special 'airless' containers and these containers are unfortunately not recyclable due to mixed component parts.

PLEASE NOTE THAT REFILLS OF OUR FULL SIZE GLASS BOTTLES ARE AVAILABLE ONLINE SO THAT THE PUMPS AND LIDS (WHICH CANNOT BE RECYCLED) CAN BE RE-USED FOR A YEAR AFTER FIRST USE*.

OUR TRAVEL SIZE PRODUCTS CAN BE RE-USED FOR A YEAR AFTER FIRST USE BY REFILLING FROM THE FULL SIZE PRODUCTS. YOU WILL NEED TO PUSH THE AIRLESS MECHANISM DOWN THE BOTTLE USING A CLEAN CHOP STICK OR COTTON BUDDY.

Our Story:

The Bath Spa Skincare range was created by Sally Merrett originally to help rejuvenate her own skin and help her young daughter’s eczema in the most healthy and effective way possible.

Formerly an environmental scientist, Sally spent five years researching and developing the range in collaboration with the University of the West of England and the University of Bath. She lives in Bath with her botanist husband Dan and her daughter Ruby and is passionate about helping people take the best possible care of their skin.

Thanks to a loyal following of discerning customers the Bath Spa Skincare team has now grown to include Dan and Alys and provides a full range of face and body products.
